Traffic Fatality Reported In Bessemer

BESSEMER, AL — A man is dead and a woman hospitalized due to a wreck in Bessemer Sunday afternoon. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office reported the incident occurred just after 12 noon in the 1200 block of Alliance Road in Bessemer.

The male driver was pronounced deceased on the scene and the female passenger was transported to the hospital with minor injuries, according to Deputy Chief David Agee. He added that the preliminary investigation shows that the vehicle was traveling south on Alliance Road when it left the right side of the roadway and went about 160 feet before striking a tree.

"It is possible that the driver may have suffered a medical incident just before leaving the roadway," Agee said. "This accident is under investigation by the Sheriff’s Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team."
