National Parks to Offer Free Admission

Admission fees will be waived Saturday at Muir Woods, Fort Point and other Bay Area national parks

National Parks to Offer Free Admission

With plenty of sunshine and warm temperatures forecast for the Bay Area this weekend, many people are already in summer mode.

To help jump-start summer activities, the National Park Service is offering free admission to any national park on Saturday, June 9, including several in the greater San Francisco Bay Area.

Some of the parks within reach of most Bay Area residents planning day trips include:

  • Muir Woods
  • Fort Point
  • Golden Gate National Recreation Area
  • The Pinnacles National Monument
  • Point Reyes National Seashore
  • The Presidio of San Francisco

Saturday’s free-admission event is offered as part of National Get Outdoors Day, which is part of Great Outdoors Month, a federal program designed to encourage Americans to participate in outdoor activities and enjoy the beauty of public lands throughout the nation.

A searchable list of national parks is available by visiting the National Park Service website at http://www.nps.gov/findapark/index.htm.
