The North Face and JanSport are moving into their new headquarters in Harbor Bay Business Park this weekend, where they will join sister firm lucy on a 14-acre business campus with a view of San Francisco.
Moving vans have been busy for days, transporting the companies' furniture, office supplies and other gear from their former offices on Farallon Drive in San Leandro to the new complex on Harbor Bay Parkway. Both firms expect to open for business in their new location Tuesday.
The North Face and Jansport manufacture outdoor gear, while lucy specializes in women's activewear. All three are owned by VF Outdoor, Inc.
The parent company last year. More than 470 employees will work on the 14-acre campus. It includes 160,000 square feet of office space, a fitness center and a cafe.
The "green" facility, in the works since 2006, will house administrative offices as well as the product design, marketing, sales, operations and research groups.
VF Outdoor officials said the move gives them a chance to put all three companies' operations under one roof. It also gave them a chance to build a headquarters from the ground up.
