Take a Taste of Japan at the Altadena Library
The Altadena Library District is proud to present an afternoon of Japanese poetry, music, and snacks. 

Featuring an authentic Japanese tea ceremony by Naomi Onizuka; an illustrated talk on the beauty of Japanese food by Maureen Nyham, President of the Japan Arts Council at Pacific Asia Museum with Kathabela and Rick Wilson; a performance by Mariko Kitakubo, a tanka (“little song”) poet visiting from Japan; Japanese flute accompaniment by Rick Wilson; excerpts from Puccini's Madame Butterfly (set in Japan) with short artistic video interpretation by Susan Dobay with tanka by inspired by the art read by Local “Tanka Poets on Site” led by Kathabela Wilson.  Suitable for children and adults. Tea from tea ceremony limited to the first 40 people. Light Japanese refreshments will be served.
