Property owners whose structures sustained damage of $10,000 or more may be eligible for temporary property tax relief, according to the Los Angeles County Office of the Assessor.

Possible Tax Relief for Windstorm Damage

Properties that suffered more than $10,000 in damages in last week's wind storms may be due relief on their county property tax bill.

Los Angeles County Assessor John R. Noguez announced on the county website Tuesday that, "structures sustaining damage of $10,000 or more may qualify for temporary property tax relief under calamity-related laws" and encouraged property owners to contact the Assessor's Office regarding questions or concerns.

An Application for Reassessment of Property Damaged or Destroyed by Misfortune or Calamity should be submitted within one year of the date of damage.
