(Video) San Gabriel Valley Girl Scouts Kick-Off Cookie Sales

The mayors of Arcadia, Monrovia and Duarte took part in the festivities.

You can kiss your New Year's resolution to slim down goodbye for now; it's Girl Scout cookie season.

Arcadia Mayor Bob Harbicht, Monrovia Mayor Mary Ann Lutz and Duarte Mayor Margaret Finlay offered words of encouragement to their city's scouts Saturday during a special kick-off event at Holy Angels Church in Arcadia.

See the attached video of Harbicht's address to the scouts.

The city leaders also touted the annual cookie sale as a great way to teach young girls the basics of running of business.

And a good business often adds new products to its repertoire.

This year, a new cookie flavor will join perennial favorites like Thin Mints and Tagalongs. The Mango Creme, a vanilla and coconut sandwich cookie, is packed full of nutrients from dehydrated veggies and fruits.

So, maybe you can have your cookie and eat it too.

Orders will begin Jan. 13 and booth sales run Feb. 12 through March 10.
