3-Alarm Fire Burns Moreno Valley Recycling Plant

The fire was reported Wednesday morning at BAS Recycling, 14050 Day Street.

MORENO VALLEY, CA — A fire that broke out Wednesday morning at a Moreno Valley recycling plant was elevated to a three-alarm blaze before crews were able to gain the upper hand.

The fire was reported at approximately 10:17 a.m. at BAS Recycling, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.

The blaze was initially reported inside a piece of machinery at the plant located at 14050 Day Street, the agency said.

Flames were in the attic of the 150,000-square-foot facility and going through the roof, according to reports from the scene.

No injuries were reported and all of the plant's employees were safely evacuated.

As of 11 a.m., Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department announced that firefighters were making good progress, but crews would remain on scene for about six hours for an "extensive overhaul."

There was no word on what caused the fire.
