7 Ambulances Sent to Fiery Crash West of Banning
Five vehicles were tangled in the mess that closed the highway.

Westbound State Route 60 was blocked for two hours today by a fiery crash involving five vehicles that left seven people injured, in the twisting curving “Badlands” area west of Banning.
One car caught fire, in the 4:12 a.m. crash, according to CalFire spokeswoman Jennifer Fuhrman.
Seven people were hurt. Two of the victims suffered major injuries, and two other suffered moderate injuries and three minor injuries, Furhman said.

The department dispatched seven ambulances and 15 firefighters to the scene, Fuhrman said.
Both lanes of the westbound 60 were blocked from the Interstate 10 split west towards Moreno Valley. One lane was opened to traffic at 6 a.m.

The cause of the crash remained under investigation.
