Big Rig Fire Spreads To Brush Along 10 Freeway in Banning

BANNING, CA — A big rig truck caught fire on the westbound I-10 Freeway in Banning Saturday evening, spreading to nearby trees and brush on the side of the freeway.

The fire broke out just after 6 p.m. near Main street, backing up traffic for miles, according to the California Highway Patrol. At 6:03 p.m., the CHP received a report of a big rig headed down the eastbound I-10 spewing diesel with the cab on fire. The truck pulled over to the right side of the road, where the flames quickly spread to the trees lining the freeway, according to the CHP.

Cal Fire arrived on scene and doused the blaze. Drivers were warned to avoid the area or expect delays.
