Evacuations Lifted In Cabazon Blaze: 40 Acres Burn

CABAZON, CA — All evacuations and evacuation warnings in the Almond Fire, burning in Cabazon, have been lifted on Tuesday, Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department shared.

Firefighters were on scene battling the blaze through heavy fuel, according to a spokesperson for the department. The blaze, being fought both on the ground and from the air, was 20% contained, and no one has been injured, according to a Cal Fire spokesperson. The forward rate of spread has been stopped, they shared.

Firefighters would remain in the area for approximately 4 hours mopping up hot spots, according to a Cal Fire/Riverside County spokesperson.

A recreational vehicle caught fire Tuesday afternoon, drawing emergency responders to the scene at Almond Street and Bonita Avenue, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.

Shortly after 1:30 p.m., firefighters were called to battle the RV fire that had extended into the brush, said spokesperson April Newman.

A short time later, just under 3 acres of medium fuel ignited, she said of the ongoing blaze. The fire had the potential to burn 20 to 30 acres.
