Twenty-six Riverside County firefighters fought the blaze, with assistance from the Morongo Fire Department.

Banning police closed Lincoln Street between 4th and 8th streets while firefighters worked to control the fire, which caused an estimated $50,000 in damage, mostly to the second floor of the building, fire officials said.

The fire was contained at 10:32 a.m., Hagemann said.
