Fiery Banning Crash Blocks I-10 Lanes Overnight

Fire officials say a car hauler caught fire on the interstate.

BANNING, CA — A large big rig blocked part of Interstate 10 in the Pass Area early Monday morning after the vehicle went up in flames near Sunset Street in Banning, fire officials say. The semi truck blaze was first reported around 10:27 p.m. Sunday on the eastbound side of the freeway.

Riverside County Fire Department crews quickly responded to the scene to find large flames coming from the truck, which was hauling vehicles. They contained the fire in just over an hour's time, officials said.

Fire officials said the first trailer of the big rig was damaged, along with three cars it was hauling.
