Pass Organization Handing Out 400+ Free Shoes, Haircuts, Groceries: Back to School Outreach Event

BANNING, CA – Local community members are coming together to provide Pass area residents with a tremendous free back-to-school package, complete with kicks, haircuts and more.

"Soles on Souls" is planned for Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Banning's Repplier Park. It's scheduled to last until 1 p.m.

The event was organized by New Creation Church, and Associate Pastor Juan De La Fuente tells Patch there are more than 400 pairs of shoes that will be given out, thanks to the generous donations from the community. What's more, church members will be handing out free groceries and facilitating free haircuts. Everything will be available while supplies last.

And the day isn't just about picking up shoes-- there will be live entertainment at the park, along with free hot dogs, snow cones and face painting for the kids.

Though this certainly isn't the first time New Creation is helping out in the community, it's the first "souls" event they've hosted.

"Soles on Souls was an idea pastor Will Gutierrez came up with and he has now done it in several different cities now," De La Fuente said. "Pastor Will Gutierrez is our Student Ministries pastor at NCC and he will be hosting the event along with several other musicians. Our senior pastors Ken and Eve Spicer want to invite the community out for a great time with lots of free activities for the entire family."
