A man was slashed across his face during a knife attack in Perris and police were searching for a suspect who fled the area, a sheriff's deputy said Saturday.
Deputies were dispatched at 9:23 p.m. Friday to a residential area in the 200 block of Caldera Street where they located a man who had suffered cuts to his face and elsewhere to his body, Riverside County sheriff's Deputy Armando Munoz said.
The suspect, described only as a Latino, fled the area and evaded capture. Evidence had been collected from the crime scene but it was unclear whether that included the weapon, Munoz said.
The victim had been taken to a hospital but his condition was not immediately known. A motive behind the attack was also unknown, Munoz said.
Deputies asked anyone with information about the case to call the sheriff's Perris station at (951) 210-1000.
