San Jacinto police arrested four people for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs at a weekend checkpoint, officials announced Monday.

The checkpoint, held at Esplanade and Sante Fe avenues, was held Friday night into Saturday morning.

According to sheriff's Sergeant Robert Himmelberg, a total of 485 vehicles passed through the operation, while 445 of them were screened.

Of those screened, four were arrested for DUI, he said.

In addition to those arrests, checkpoint staff ticketed 20 drivers who did not have a valid license, according to Himmelberg.

Funding for the operation was provided via state and federal grants.
