Police: Burglary Suspect Caught Fleeing with Cash Register

A suspected burglar was nabbed while making his getaway Monday with an arm full of stolen loot, according to Hemet police.

James Frayley, 46, of Fontana was arrested shortly after 4 a.m. in the 100 block of Harvard Street, near Florida Avenue, said Lt. Eddie Pust.

He said a patrol officer was checking downtown store fronts when he heard an alarm sound. The officer immediately got out of his vehicle to investigate, stepping around a corner, where he spotted Frayley fleeing with a cash register, according to Pust.

Additional officers were summoned to the area and immediately found Frayley, who was taken into custody without incident, Pust said.

A door to a business was found busted open, and “officers located property inside the business that was accidentally left at the location by the suspect,” he said.

According to Pust, Frayley has a pending arrest warrant out of San Bernardino County for alleged narcotics trafficking.

The suspect was booked into the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta. Bail information was not immediately available.
