Police: Honey Oil Lab Explodes in Beaumont, Injuring 2
Beaumont police say two people were burned in the explosion.
BEAUMONT, CA- A Beaumont house caught fire over the weekend when a butane honey oil lab exploded, police and fire officials report.
According to the Riverside County Fire Department, the fire was first reported just after 7:30 p.m. Sunday on Palm Avenue.
"The first arriving resource advised a small fire was out upon arrival..." Fire Spokeswoman Jennifer Fuhrman reported. "The fire had some extension into the interior wall."
Two people who were at the location when the explosion happened were burned, and transported to the hospital in serious condition, according to police and fire officials.
"Upon arrival officers located two burn victims as a result of an explosion from a butane honey oil lab," Beaumont police said in a Facebook post, adding that Cal Fire arson investigators were called out.
Butane honey oil is a marijuana extract that carries high levels of THC. It's made using butane, or lighter fluid in a long, dangerous process, according to published reports.
