Semi Trucks Crash Off I-10 Near Yucaipa Boulevard, One Hurt

Police say one of the trucks ended up down an embankment and heavily damaged.

REDLANDS, CA — Two semi-trucks crashed off Interstate 10 in the Redlands area early Tuesday, sending one of the drivers to the hospital. However, officials say the man only suffered minor injuries.

The wreck happened around 5 a.m. on the eastbound side of the freeway, between Yucaipa Boulevard and Wabash Avenue, fire officials said.

"Units arrived to find one of the trucks down an embankment and heavily damaged, with a ruptured tank that spilled approximately 25 gallons of diesel fuel onto the soil," a news release from the Redlands Fire Department stated. "The driver of the vehicle, a male in his 60s, was treated by paramedics and transported to a local hospital with minor injuries."

Due to the fuel spill, a hazmat team was called to the scene to clear the area. The contaminated soil wasn't cleaned until around noon.

No other injuries were reported.
