"We based the rankings on the places that are trending among the millions of homebuyers searching on Redfin.com leading into the new year," said Redfin spokesperson Cori Ramsey.

Ramsey said the common features shared by the hottest neighborhoods include highly rated schools, short commutes and affordable prices.

"We also collected Redfin agents’ insights into which neighborhoods have seen the biggest growth in popularity among today’s homebuyers," she added.

According to the data on Redfin.com, the median list price of homes for sale in the Cipriani neighborhood is $1,594,400, with an average of 5.5 offers made on each home. The average buyer makes a downpayment of 20.4 percent, according to the website.

Redfin analyzed its website-user traffic and surveyed its real-estate agents across the country to determine its top 10.
