Another Armed Robbery in Berkeley

Berkeley police say a pedestrian was the victim of an armed robbery shortly before 8 p.m. last night, Saturday, in south Berkeley.

A pedestrian was robbed by a man with a gun in Berkeley about 7:52 p.m. Saturday, according to Berkeley police.

The robbery occurred at Woolsey and Tremont streets, on Berkeley's southern border with Oakland, police said.

The suspect fled on foot, said Berkeley police Lt. Ed Spiller. He was described as black, 22-24 years old, between 5-feet 11-inches and 6-feet 1-inch tall, and wearing a dark sweatshirt with a yellow design and dark jeans, Spiller said.

Berkeley has seen a surge in robberies this year, according to Berkeley Police Chief Michael Meehan.
