Armed Robbery at North Gate of Cal Campus
A 25-year-old male was robbed at gunpoint early Thursday at the intersection of Hearst and Euclid avenues, next to the north entrance of the UC Berkeley campus, according to UC police.

A crime alert issued today, Friday, by campus police said the victim was walking on Euclid at 12:58 a.m. when he was approached by a man with a gun, who took the victim's property.

The robber then got into a red, newer model Ford Mustang driven by another man that fled east on Ridge Road, police said.

The victim was not injured in the encounter.

Police said the suspects were described as:
  • Suspect #1: A Black male, in his early 20’s, 6’-0” in height, slender build, and armed with a gun.
  • Suspect #2: A Black male adult driver.
Anyone with information about the crime is urged to contact Berkeley police at
the department's 24-hour number, (510) 981-5900.

Robberies in the city are registering a large increase this year, Berkeley Police Chief Michael Meehan told Patch in a recent interview.
