The View From Calabasas: A Waddle by the Water

The city has plenty of impressive vistas, and each week we'll be sharing one.

The View From Calabasas: A Waddle by the Water

I've visited the many times to cover historical events, but this past Saturday was my first look inside the neighboring Calabasas Creek Park.

The small parcel features a Victorian-era drinking fountain, a replica Chumash village and its most prominent trait: its serenity.

The 101 Freeway is about 30 feet away from the park, but it's easy to forget where you are with a large canopy of trees above your head and the calming sounds of a gently-flowing creek.

I took a few minutes to reflect by the creek as bodies of water somehow seem to trigger deep thinking.

That's when I came across some ducks and decided to make them the stars of this week's photo.

Calabasas Creek Park is just another of example of how nature and progress co-exist within the community and a reminder that the nearest trail, park or lake is only a few minutes away.

The park is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and 1-4 p.m. on Sundays.
