Carlsbad Motorcyclist Dies After Tamarack Crash

Carlsbad police are investigating a traffic collision that killed a motorcyclist Monday evening who apparently cut off a larger vehicle.

At 8:14 p.m. Monday, the City of Carlsbad Police Department received a call regarding a traffic collision that had just occurred on Tamarack Avenue east of Skyline Drive.  

Upon investigation officers found a motorcyclist had been riding eastbound on Tamarack Avenue when he attempted to make a left hand turn onto northbound High Ridge Avenue.  As the motorcyclist rode into the westbound lanes of travel he collided with a vehicle.  The vehicle was traveling westbound on Tamarack Avenue.  The vehicle was driven by 53-year-old Jeffery Schneider of Carlsbad, who was not injured. 

The motorcyclist was transported to Tri-City Hospital where he later passed away from his injuries.  Release of the motorcyclist’s information is pending as the San Diego County Medical Examiner notifies family members.

The police department’s traffic division is investigating the collision.
