The San Diego County Medical Examiner's office reports 23-year-old  of Carlsbad was not restrained by a seat belt when she lost control of her car on Thursday and crashed into a light pole.

Pursell, who would have turned 24 on July 2, was ejected from her car after the vehicle struck a traffic-light pole and burst into flames. Her 2007 Volkswagen Jetta was traveling south on El Camino Real at the intersection with Levante Street. She was airlifted to Scripps La Jolla, where she died that afternoon from multiple blunt force injuries.

Carlsbad Police ordered a routine toxicology test which will be back in a couple of weeks.
