Police Issue 166 Citations in Carlsbad Thursday Morning

In an effort to address summertime traffic safety issues, officers from numerous agencies throughout San Diego County converged in Carlsbad for a high-profile traffic-enforcement detail.

Officers from San Diego, La Mesa, Chula Vista, Oceanside, Escondido and National City police departments, as well as the San Diego Sheriff’s Department, were in Carlsbad on Thursday from 7:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. issuing citations.

“With crowds increasing in beach areas during the summertime and people in a ‘vacation’ frame of mind, traffic safety concerns increase,” said Carlsbad Traffic Sgt. Paul Reyes. 

According a Carlsbad Police Department press release, approximately 15 locations in Carlsbad where speeding and other traffic violations are common were the focus of Thursday’s traffic-enforcement efforts.  

In four hours, approximately 166 citations were issued for violations including speeding, red light violations and unsafe moving. Six vehicles were towed for unlicensed or suspended driver’s licenses.
