Woman Fatally Hits Pedestrian, Drives With Him Inside Car: Oceanside Police [UPDATED]
The hit-and-run victim went through the windshield of the vehicle and became lodged in the front seat, police said.

Oceanside, CA — A 29-year-old Oceanside woman has been arrested on suspicion of killing a pedestrian early Monday in what police described as a hit-and-run involving alcohol.
Officers found the victim dead when they responded about 6:20 a.m. to the 100 block of Magdalena Drive, and learned from witnesses that the woman — later identified as Esteysi Sanchez — who was allegedly responsible for the fatality had gotten out of her vehicle and walked away from the scene, according to Oceanside police Spokesman Ryan Keim.
Police determined the male victim had been walking in the 4000 block of Mission Avenue when he was struck by the vehicle, Keim said.

"The force of the collision caused the victim to go through the windshield of the vehicle and become lodged in the front passenger seat," Keim said. "The driver of the vehicle continued driving to the 100 block of Magdalena Dr. with the victim still in the vehicle."
The driver went home after hitting the pedestrian, and her husband called police, Lt. Karen Laser said.

Officers who made contact with Sanchez said alcohol may have been a factor in the collision, Keim said.
Sanchez was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI, felony hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter and was booked into the Vista jail, according to an update from Keim.
The Oceanside Police Department's Major Accident Investigation Team was continuing its investigation as of publication time.
Anyone who witnessed the collision or has other information regarding the incident was asked to call the Oceanside Police Department at 760-435-4911.
