Body Found In Anthony Chabot Regional Park Appears To Be Man In His 20s

The body was discovered Sunday evening by a hiker.

CASTRO VALLEY, CA —It doesn't appear that foul play was involved in the death of a man whose body was found in Anthony Chabot Regional Park on Sunday evening, an East Bay Regional Park District police lieutenant said today.

A hiker spotted the man's body at 6:32 p.m. Sunday and East Bay Regional Park District police and Alameda County Fire Department officials arrived and located the body several hours later and pronounced the man dead, according to police Lt. Gretchen Rose.

The man, who appeared to be in his 20s, hasn't yet been identified, according to Rose.

Authorities won't make a determination about the man's cause of death until after coroner's officials perform an autopsy on him on Tuesday, Rose said.

Another man was found dead along the Golden Spike Trail in Redwood Regional Park on Saturday afternoon but no foul play is suspected and his death has been ruled to have been a suicide, according to Rose.
