Feb. 21-27: From Pop Art to Bocce Ball

  1. The will show the work of pop art icon Corita Kent, or Sister Corita, starting Tuesday, Feb. 22 in the library's gallery and lobby. A documentary, Primary Colors: the story of Corita, will be shown Saturday, Feb. 26 at 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m..
  2. A new Castro Valley bocce ball league is scheduled to start up on Wednesday, Feb. 23 at the , 20395 San Miguel Ave. The group will meet Wednesdays at 10 a.m. The league is looking for players of all skill levels. Free. Learn more by calling, 510-727-9296.
  3. Get certified in infant CPR by taking a class Wednesday, Feb. 23. at the , 20103 Lake Chabot Rd., from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. After completing the one-night class, which focuses on infant CPR techniques and foreign-body airway obstruction, participants will receive a two-year course completion card (for infant certification only). The class is based on the guidelines and standards of the American Heart Association. Cost is $30 per person or $40 for a couple.
  4. Save our School Castro Valley! will hold its monthly meeting Wednesday, Feb. 23 at the , 4400 Alma Ave., from 7 to 8 p.m. The next meeting is scheduled for March 23. Meetings are held the fourth Wednesday of each month in the Staff Development Center. 
  5. California State University, East Bay, 25800 Carlos Bee Blvd., Hayward, will host a symphony orchestra concert featuring the music of alumnus Nick Vasallo  Thursday, Feb. 24, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are free with a CSUEB I.D., but cost $7 for general admission and $5 for seniors and children. The event will be held in the Recital Hall, Music Building Room 1055 on the Hayward campus.
