Man Fights Off Robbers, Deputies Discover Grow House at Home

Deputies said the resident has a medical marijuana card, so he hasn't yet been arrested for allegedly growing the plants.

The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a Wednesday attempted robbery at a home in San Lorenzo.

Deputies said two men tried to burglarize a residence in the 16000 block Via Primero Way at about 11:30 p.m. and got into a physical altercation with the man who lives there. The man was able to fight off the men, and they fled the scene. Responding deputies discovered more than 200 marijuana plants inside the residence.

Deputies said the resident has a medical marijuana card, so he hasn’t yet been arrested for allegedly growing the plants. It was not immediately clear if he is legally allowed to grow the number of plants discovered at the residence. The resident suffered minor injuries in the struggle with the robbers.
