Funding Approved for Westwood Expo Station Greenway Project

Nearly $90,000 in funding for the project is approved.

Funding Approved for Westwood Expo Station Greenway Project

Funding to get the Expo Greenway project underway near the Expo Line's Westwood Station was approved last week by the Expo Construction Authority Board of Directors, Streetsblog Los Angeles reported.

The board signed off on nearly $90,000 in funding for the project, which will be located between Westwood Boulevard and Overland Avenue.

The Greenway project "will provide urban runoff treatment, green space, access to public transit, and educational and recreational opportunities," according to a Bureau of Sanitation Watershed Protection Division report.

Money approved last week by the board will be used to build culverts—"a drain or pipe that allows water to flow under a road, railroad, trail, or similar obstruction"—beneath the Expo rail tracks, Streetsblog reported.

As Streetsblog notes, further funding is necessary to complete the project.

...without future commitment from either the City of Los Angeles or the Construction Authority for the rest of the Greenway project, it could be a case of constructing something with limited use.
