Victim Killed in Metro Blue Line Crash ID'd as Downey Man

The man was fatally struck about 6:55 a.m. Friday at the grade crossing at Willowbrook Avenue and El Segundo Boulevard, authorities said.

WILLOWBROOK, CA — The coroner's office Monday released the name of a man who was struck and killed by a Metro Blue Line train while riding his bicycle south of the Willowbrook/Rosa Parks Station in unincorporated Willowbrook.

The victim — identified as 52-year-old Esequiel Flores of Downey — was fatally struck about 6:55 a.m. Friday at the grade crossing at Willowbrook Avenue and El Segundo Boulevard, Ramon Montenegro of the sheriff's Transit Policing Division said.

The Blue Line train was northbound when it struck Flores, Montenegro said.
