9 Displaced, 5 Hospitalized In Antioch House Fire
The blaze resulted in "extensive damage" to the home and minor damage to a neighboring home, according to Con Fire.

ANTIOCH, CA — Nine people were displaced by an early-morning house fire Wednesday, five of whom were taken to hospitals for treatment of minor injuries suffered in the fire, the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District said. The fire was reported at 4:03 a.m. at a single-family home in the 5400 block of Southwood Way, Con Fire Spokesman Steve Hill said.
A total of 40 rescue personnel — 29 firefighting crew and 11 medics —responded to the scene, Hill said.
The blaze, which resulted in "extensive damage" to the home and minor damage to a neighboring home, was contained by 5:11 a.m., Hill said.

Seven of the nine people were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, and five of the displaced residents were taken to hospitals for further treatment, according to Hill.
The displaced residents — six adults and three children— received assistance from the American Red Cross.

Crews remained at the scene for several hours afterward.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
