Update: Officials Investigating Cause of Blaze in Old Fire Station
Fire investigators are looking into what caused a one-alarm blaze at a former fire station in Antioch on Thursday night.
The fire was reported at 8:20 p.m. at the old station at 4527 Deerfield Road. Crews arrived on the scene roughly 15 minutes later, Contra Costa County Fire Prevention District Capt. Robert Marshall said. The old station is now owned by the city of Antioch and consists of a garage and a residential building similar to a mobile home. The former housing unit was badly damaged in the fire, which crews knocked down by 8:50 p.m., the fire captain said.
No injuries were reported. Marshall said it is unclear whether the building was occupied leading up to the fire and that the cause remains under investigation. A monetary estimate for the amount of damage caused by the blaze was not immediately available.
