City Council Preview: Health Board Appointments

Two applicants will be appointed to the Mt. Diablo Health Care District Board. Also on the agenda for Tuesday, Oct. 9: donations for the 2013 downtown events season and more than $432,000 of unanticipated building expenses.

City Council Preview: Health Board Appointments

The Concord City Council will meet Tuesday, Oct. 9 at 7 p.m. in the council chambers at the Civic Center.

The meeting agenda is available on the city's website and includes:

  • The authorization of donations and sponsorship revenues in the amount of $85,000. Of these funds, a total of $29,000 will be appropriated for the 2012 Downtown Events Season and the remaining $56,000 will go towards the 2013 Downtown Events Season. 
  • This item is likely to be moved to council meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012: The consideration of unanticipated expenses totalling $432,669.93 to address building code and safety requirements. This includes the installation of energy-efficient, cost-saving heating and air conditioning systems at the Civic Center and Police Department under the Citywide Energy Services Company Energy Efficiency contract. A public hearing is required to provide change order approval for the following:

    1. An upgrade of the structural supports for the HVAC at the Civic Center ($153,913.07);
    2. Additional piping and electrical for the energy efficient chiller at the Civic Center to prevent vandalism ($25,065.93);
    3. Asbestos abatement and repair to the City building required to install an approved HVAC upgrade ($42,565.93); and
    4. The repair of existing equipment associated with the management system at the Concord Police Department ($211,125).
  • The appointment of two applicants to serve as the City's representatives on the Community Health Fund Board; one for a one-year term ending Dec. 31, 2013, and one for a two-year term ending Dec. 31, 2014. The applicants are Ernesto Avila, Kenneth Edgecombe, Bill Gram-Reefer, Jeannette Green, Kandi Lancaster, Carol Longshore, Vivian Miller and Mark Weinmann, as reported by the Contra Costa Times.
