The Concord Salvation Army is throwing out its net in search of monetary donations to help the needy and the destitute in Central Contra Costa County.

"We are concerned that we won't be able to help people arriving at our door through the summer," says Concord Corps Officer Major Clay Gardner. "The Salvation Army has always relied on the generosity of local residents to help us do our work, and we are making a special plea at this time for support."

Last summer, the Concord Salvation Army helped hundreds of people – and anticipates more need this summer.

Explaining the Corps' current need, Gardner points out that "Our holiday donations have long since been depleted and we have little left to work with. In fact, this year we had to cut our summer youth programs due to lack of funds.”
