K-9 Team Find Fleeing Suspect Hiding in Concord High Brush

A short chase ensued around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday morning when a driver wanted for traffic violations refused to yield to a Concord police motorcycle officer.

The traffic stop was attempted in the neighborhood of Dana Estates, according to the Concord Police Department. After a few blocks, the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot, at which point he was recognized by the officer as having an active felony warrant out for his arrest.

Police alerted administrators at Conord High and established a perimeter around the neighborhood. A K-9 unit tracked the suspect's path to a brushy area near the Concord High School football field, according to police. The police dogs found the suspect hiding in the brush, and he surrendered to officers.

The outstanding warrant was processed and the suspect was booked at the Concord Police Department jail for motor vehicle evasion and resisting arrest.

Concord police have not released any information about the suspect as the incident is currently under investigation.
