Will All Campaign Signs Begone by Friday?

That's what Concord regulations say. City Clerk Mary Rae Lehman says candidates are generally good about picking them up.

Will All Campaign Signs Begone by Friday?

Slowly but surely, the campaign signs are disappearing from the tumbleweed lots, the forlorn fences and the lush lawns of Concord.

City regulations are that the campaigns are supposed to have them down by Friday, Nov. 16.

The candidates are good about picking them up, said Concord City Clerk Mary Rae Lehman: "Often candidates will ask friends to post signs for them during the campaign, and they don't know where they all got placed. This gets a bit embarrassing for the candidate. As an aside, we just found one of Mark Peterson's signs for his last run for City Council."

Peterson in 2010 won an election to be Contra Costa district attorney. The Patch wayback machine believes his last City Council campaign was 2008 …

Lehman invited residents to call her at (925) 671-3495 and report signs not retrieved, and she will pass the information on to the campaigns. Each sign is supposed to have a name or a committee name with contact information on it.
