Hey Danville! From Danville Patch's New Editor

Danville Patch's new editor introduces himself and invites you to be a Danville Patch participant.

Hey Danville! From Danville Patch's New Editor

I'm becoming a bit of an expert when it comes to writing introduction stories to Patch communities.

First, (complete with video), when I became Clayton Patch editor in December 2010. About a year later,  when I transferred to become the new editor of San Ramon Patch.

So Danville Patch is No. 3 for me and I'm truly looking forward to it.

I know some of you are thinking right now, "Wait! What happened to that Terry guy? I liked him." Yeah, I like him too, and no worries, he's fine. Terry is the new editor of Concord Patch

Luckily for me, Terry, and before him Patch legend Elizabeth Shemaria, has built Danville Patch into one of our strongest sites nationwide. My job is to keep it going, giving Danville residents the information they want and need so they are informed about the town they call home.

As I wrote in my previous introductions, I'm not one that enjoys writing about myself, but quickly: My start in journalism came in sports, being the sports editor of my college newspaper at Cal State Long Beach and then being a sports reporter for the Daily Republic in Fairfield. With Patch, I've switched my focus to community news, covering everything from  to .

(Note: Before I forget, I should mention I'm still the editor of San Ramon Patch. So I'm currently double-patching. Is that too much work for one person? No. I'm spectacular. That being said, reinforcements are on the way in the near future, so you shouldn't expect a dip in coverage in either Danville or San Ramon.)

For the last couple weeks, I've been giving myself a crash-course on everything Danville. I've sat down with Police Chief Steve Simpkins and began reviewing some of the issues facing the town. I've even joined a Danville kickball league! I hope to meet many more Danvillers (is that what you call yourselves?) and if you see me around town please say hi.

I know many of you have lived here for years, if not decades, and if there's something I should know about, please email me at patrick.creaven@patch.com.

I also invite you to post your own announcementsevents and blogs on Patch. We want Patch to be a place for people to not just digest the news, but to engage it. Share your opinions on stories in our comments section and let your neighbors know what you are thinking.

This isn't my site as much as it yours, and I look forward to working together to continue to strengthen Danville Patch.
