Pedestrians looking to cross Hartz Avenue at the Prospect Avenue intersection can now do so with a little more safety on their side.
A new pedestrian crossing system has been installed at the busy intersection. It is triggered by motion or you can press a pedestrian crossing button.
Danville Transportation Director Tai Williams said that the Hartz and Prospect intersection is one of Danville's busier crossings so that is why it was chosen for this new system.
Once the system is triggered, lights embedded in the concrete of Hartz along the crosswalk will flash, along with a pedestrian crossing sign at the corners.
Williams said that all the lights are LEDS and added that an improvement like this costs about $50,000.
