Man Fatally Struck By Train in Davis Monday Morning (VIDEO)

A man was killed on the outskirts of Davis Monday after being struck by a Union Pacific train. This appears to be the third train collision on the tracks near County Roads 32 and 105 in just the past month -- although this is the first one that claimed a life.

Several Amtrak trains were delayed as a result of the incident,  according to CBS13

It’s unclear why a person was sitting on the tracks near County Roads 32 and 105 just off the causeway. The train’s driver spotted the man on the tracks and tried to stop, but couldn’t.

We'll add more information as we get it. Other recent incidents in that same location include:

  • Vehicle Struck by Train in East Davis; Driver Found Drunk Near the Scene - On January 8, Angel Moreno was contacted just west of the traffic collision scene and was intoxicated.  An investigation of the traffic collision scene placed Moreno as the driver of the Nissan, just prior to the traffic collision with the train.
  • Train hits vehicle stuck on tracks east of Davis - again (Woodland Daily Democrat)For the second time in a week, a train has struck a vehicle at the same railroad crossing just east of Davis."
