Park Vista Health Center adjacent to Morningside of Fullerton retirement community in Fullerton, Calif., has completed an extensive renovation of its rehabilitation and therapy center http://www.parkvista.net/rehabilitation. Open to the general public, Park Vista is located at 2525 Brea Blvd. at the corner of Brea and Bastanchury Road near St. Jude Medical Center.
According to Glen Goldsmith, administrator for Park Vista, the newly revamped Rehabilitation Center for seniors offers physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy for the public and the residents of Park Vista. Morningside residents can also use the Rehabilitation Center on an out-patient basis while remaining in their independent living apartment.
“Proper therapy can dramatically speed a patient’s recovery after orthopedic surgery such as a hip or knee replacement or after a stroke or heart attack,” Goldsmith said. “To keep pace with all of the medical advances we’ve seen over the last few years in the field of therapy, the Rehabilitation Center underwent a dramatic architectural and interior design renovation. The new space was designed to be as user-friendly and conducive to the healing process as possible.”
The 1,160-square-foot rehab center features all new state-of-the-art equipment, electronic parallel bars and an Omni-cycle used for strength training. An occupational therapy cart designed to assist patients with fine motor skills to enhance their ability to perform daily activities is also available. The architectural and design plans for the renovation were approved by the California Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development.
Under the leadership of Program Director Tomi Wilson, Park Vista’s rehab center is open 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. with therapy available seven days a week. The center offers the services of several highly-trained physical, occupational and speech therapists who use a team approach for continuity of care within a well-balanced program. Park Vista is Medicare-certified and accepts many insurance and managed healthcare plans under the direction of St. Jude Heritage Medical Group. Both short-term care and long-term care are available.
In addition to rehabilitation services, Park Vista offers 54 assisted living apartments, 99 health center beds and care for individuals with Alzheimer’s and other memory-related disorders in either setting. Park Vista Assisted Living features assistance with daily routines such as bathing, dressing, and medication reminders without the intensive services of a health center. Residents enjoy a full calendar of leisure activities in a homelike yet supportive environment.
Park Vista Health Center offers private and semi-private rooms and freshly prepared meals served restaurant-style three times daily in the dining room or delivered to residents' rooms. A full-service beauty salon and personal laundry service are also available. The center maintains a significantly higher staffing ratio than required by the state of California and is often the health center where local physicians place their own family members.
