“The owner of the vehicle was at the movie theater and alerted that his alarm was activated (via his key fob),” Alameda County Fire spokesperson Aisha Knowles said. “He left the movie to return to his vehicle and silence the alarm, however he returned to find firefighters extinguishing a fire in his vehicle.”
Knowles says the column of smoke was visible at least a mile away.
“The car is a total loss,” Knowles said. “Firefighters concluded the vehicle fire was due to an electrical issue in the dashboard area.”
