Eagle Rocker Thanks LAFD Dispatcher who Helped Save Her Husband's Life

Al Camacho helped save the husband of Deanna Brigidi-Stewart after he suffered a cardiac arrest.

A woman who called 911 when her husband suffered a heart attack at their Eagle Rock-area home met today with the dispatcher who helped save his life.

Deanna Brigidi-Stewart met Los Angeles Fire Department dispatcher Al
Camacho Friday morning at the Metro Fire Communications office at 450 E. Temple St., LAFD Capt. Jaime Moore said.

"She embraced him and thanked him and gave him a box of candy and
fruit," Moore said. "She had tears in her eyes."

Brigidi-Stewart, 27, called 911 about 11 p.m. February 27 because her
husband had suffered a sudden cardiac arrest during his sleep, Moore said. The
35-year-old man, who has recovered, preferred that his name not be released,
Moore said. He and the couple's two children—a 3-year-old girl and a 1-year-
old son—were on hand for today's event.

"He is doing well,'' Moore said. "There are no ill effects.''

After receiving the 911 call, Camacho dispatched paramedics to the
scene, and guided Brigidi-Stewart in how to help her husband while waiting for
emergency personnel to arrive, Moore said.

"She did CPR under the direction of a trained firefighter/dispatcher,
who guided her through this horrific incident,'' Moore said. "She was able to
maintain the oxygen supply to her husband's brain, and he has fully
recovered.''
