Gary Leonard was back in the sky over the weekend.

He was flying high over Echo Park Lake and sent us almost 90 images of the Echo Park Lake from a number of angles.

We give you about a few of those here, along with an aerial shot from early July.

See the progress, particularly on the retaining walls, the variable-depth bottom and the island.

The Rehabilitation is set to finish May 2013.

A partial refill could begin as early as winter to allow for planting, including the lotuses.

Naturalist Judy Raskin wrote for the Eastsider LA  about how fish and birds will feed in the remade lake.
