Silver Lake's Cliff's Edge is getting a new chef, Vartan Abgaryan of the Roosevelt Hotel's Public Kitchen & Bar.

Abgaryan will start officially on Dec. 1, the restaurant told us.

But the Los Angeles Times reports, he's already shaken up the menu inherited from Benjamin Bailey, the 30-year-old James Beard nominee who left in September.

No cause has been given for Bailey's departure.

The buzz around Bailey had helped make Cliff's Edge a destination for its food as well as its dramatic stacked patio in the past year, attracting celebrities including Jennifer Aniston and Gwen Stefani.

According to the Times, Abgaryan's new menu features  local, seasonal seafood, meats and veggies.

Clams with Riesling, flowering chives, sumac and crème fraich sounded especially tempting to us.

Cliff's Edge, the former location of Flamingo, a legendary women's bar, was opened by Dana Hollister eight years ago.

Hollister owns Echo Park's The Brite Spot and Villain's Tavern in Downtown L.A., as well as the 5-acre Paramour estate on Micheltorena Street.

Whether Abgaryan's arrival can help raise Silver Lake's profile overall as a dining destination remains to be seen.

The area is still considered to lag other areas, despite recent arrivals Black Hogg and Red Hill, among others.
