Parolee Arrested on Suspicion of Robbing Mechanic's Bank
Police officials say the suspect used a demand note to rob the bank.
On Friday, June 6 at 1:05 p.m., the Mechanic's Bank at 9996 San Pablo Ave. was robbed via a demand note. Officers responded to the robbery call and learned the suspect presented a note to the teller and fled on foot without displaying or simulating a weapon.
He was described as a white male in his 20’s wearing sunglasses and a knit cap. Officers immediately began working with the bank to track the money using the bank’s GPS tracking service and our own tracking beacon.
The bank service GPS tracker eventually began to hit westbound on Cutting Boulevard from 49th Street at 8.9mph. Officers located the suspect riding his skateboard on Cutting Blvd and 38th Street.
The suspect was arrested for the robbery and evidence was recovered in the suspect’s possession. The suspect, a transient white male adult, with no confirmed address, was transported to ECPD for booking and an interview.
Mr. Blackshear was on parole at the time of the robbery and had a parole violation warrant. The case will be presented to the Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office for the filling of charges.
