100-Year-Old Elk Grove Resident Recognized by Council

An Elk Grove resident got a special birthday present and an early Valentine's Day gift last week.

Dalyte Sidell, who is 100 years old, was recognized by the Elk Grove City Council at its Feb. 13 meeting.

"In the city of Elk Grove we think it's important to honor your service and your life," Mayor Gary Davis told Sidell, congratulating her on 100 years. "I'm sure there is a secret to [your longevity] and hopefully you'll share it with us."

When asked if she wanted to address the council or the attendees at the meeting, Sidell responded with a very brief message: "I'd like to say thank you. Do I go back now?"
