Elk Grove Football Loses to Folsom in Final at Sac State

After a long run with many hard-fought victories along the way, Elk Grove High's season ended the same way it did last year: With a loss to Folsom.

This time, however, they made it to the finals, which is one round further than they made it last year, which could mean good things for next season.

"Elk Grove will return a lot of talent, including Parker and quarterback Tommy Arnold, for a title run next season," said the Sacramento Bee's Joe Davidson in his story about the game.

Elk Grove lost 44-18 in the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Div. II Championship Game.

Former Elk Grove High player and current pro, Lance Briggs, tweeted the following after the loss: "To the young men out at eghs football. Be very proud of what u have accomplished this year. Heads up..you will get'em next yr. Herdpride."

The Sacramento Bee quoted the Elk Grove's coach, Chris Nixon, as saying, "Folsom is a complete team, a fantastic offense and an underrated defense ... [Jake] Browning is a special talent. I don't know if I've seen a better sophomore quarterback."
