A man waiting at an Elk Grove stoplight Monday evening was attacked and pulled from his car by two unknown suspects, police say.

The 20-year-old driver was stopped at Franklin Boulevard and Laguna Park Drive around 7:15 p.m. when someone walked up to the driver's side window and punched him in the face, an Elk Grove Police Department crime log states.

Police say the suspect opened the driver's door, and a second person wearing a white mask approached the passenger's side of the car. The first suspect unbuckled the driver's seatbelt and pulled him out of the car, according to the crime log.

"[The suspect] let go of [the victim] and [the victim] began running to his vehicle, which was now rolling into the intersection," the crime log states. "The suspects fled on foot in an unknown direction and [the victim] drove away."

No description of the suspects was available, police say.
