Man Killed by Police in the Valley Identified
A 34-year-old man was killed Monday by police responding to a report of a man acting strangely.

Authorities today identified a man who was killed in an officer-involved shooting in Northridge.
Miguel Cano, 34, died at the scene of the shooting, which occurred about 1 p.m. Monday near Elkwood Street and Andasol Avenue, said coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter.
Officers from the West Valley Division responded to a report of a man acting strangely and encountered Cano in the street, said Los Angeles Police Department Officer Matt Ludwig.

Cano did not respond to the officers’ commands, leading them to zap him with a stun gun and blast him with at least one bean bag shotgun round, to no effect, Ludwig said.
An altercation ensued, resulting in an officer-involved shooting, Ludwig said.

No officers were injured.
